New Quilting Gadgets

While in Alaska, I found some wonderful, unique quilting gadgets. These are made from a beautiful hand carved wood. One is a wonderful needle holder. The other is a holder and a stiletto. These are just beautiful items.

I had an opportunity to throw clay pots on the Wheel what a blast. I was able to make three pots in about 2 hours. It was so much fun. I think I've found a new hobby. Wait how many things can I do? Well here are my pots. I hope you're amazed as much as I was amazed at myself. hahaha!

Pictures From Alaska

As I go through my Alaska pictures, I just thought I'd add a few more for viewing. Snow covered mountains, Grizzly bear on the ice and the state bird.

Hi All,

What a wonderful trip to Alaska. It is really the last true wilderness. We flew into Anchorage arriving after a 23 hour trip. Why 23 hours? Well, we had a flight with American Airlines from here to Alaska, but not to be. We flew from BWI to Dallas/Fort Worth. We had a 3 hr. layover, because we would be continuing our trip via Alaska Air. The flights were good, but long. We only had a 1 hr. delay between the two Alaska Air flights, so that meant running for the 3rd flight. We arrive in Alaska but no luggage. It did arrive at 3:30 a.m. We ended up having very little sleep. I was sleepy for the next 4 days. Day two we arrived at Mt. McKinnley in the rain and it rained for the next two days. So, we never saw the mountain. The rain didn't stop us from looking around, it's beautiful. I'm still not sure there is a Mountain out there? I never saw it! Off to Denahli, where we spent the entire day in the park. You can only go into the park by riding on the yellow school buses that kids ride every day. While in Alaska we visited Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, Valdez, Glacier Bay, Prince Willam Sound and lots of other places. Here are some of my pictures of the wonderful things we saw. The first is the Sea Otter that play and frolic right near the boat (we took a cruise with Stan Stephens Glacier and Wildlife Cruises). The second picture is the glacier we cruised right into the ice floating on the water. I'll post more pictures the rest of the week. What a great trip.

Quilt Market

Spring Quilt Market was held in Pittsburg, Pa May 13 through 17. The market was wonderful I saw some wonderful new quilting tools. The best tool is the "GO". It is a personal die cutting system to cut layers of fabric giving the quilter the perfectly cut quilt pieces to create your quilt blocks. This is fabulous and a must see.
